If you’ve ever looked at the front of your bike after a long highway haul, you know exactly what’s hitting your motorcycle: rocks, gravel, and road debris. While your fairing protects you, your radiator or oil cooler is often left exposed right in the line of fire. These guards aren't just about looks but about protecting the "heart" of your machine from a catastrophic leak.

Why You Need a Radiator or Oil Cooler Guard

Your oil cooler is essentially a small radiator filled with thin fins and high-pressure fluid.

  • The Protection: A single pebble kicked up by a truck at 75 mph can easily puncture an exposed oil cooler, leading to a messy leak or, worse, engine failure. Our guards act as a rugged shield to deflect that debris.
  • The Airflow: Many riders worry that a guard will cause the engine to run hot. We’ve engineered our guards with a specific mesh pattern that allows for maximum airflow. Your oil stays cool while your hardware stays protected.

Fitment and Compatibility

We offer precision-fit guards for the most popular modern touring machines:

  • Harley-Davidson®: Designed specifically for the Milwuakee-Eight (M8) Touring models (2017–2025+), including the Street Glide, Road Glide, and Road King.
  • Indian®: We have specific fitments for the Challenger and Pursuit models.
  • Note: Always check the specific year and model fitment on our site to ensure the mounting points line up perfectly with your bike.

Our guards are designed to fit perfectly over the OEM oil cooler. If you have replaced your stock cooler with a larger or differently shaped aftermarket unit, fitment may vary.

Performance and Maintenance

Not with a Klock Werks guard. We use a high-open-area mesh that is designed to maintain the airflow your engine needs for cooling. You get the protection without sacrificing the thermal performance of your oil system.

Road grime and bugs will inevitably collect on the mesh. Because our guards are made of durable aluminum, you can easily clean them with a soft brush and some Shine Werks or mild soap. They won’t rust or corrode like cheap steel alternatives.

Installation and Quality

Not at all. This is a true "garage builder" project. Our guards are designed to be a simple bolt-on or clip-in installation using existing mounting points or the provided hardware. Most riders have them installed and are back on the road in less than 15 minutes.

True to the Klock Werks legacy, our Oil Cooler Guards are Made in the USA. We believe in using the best materials and American craftsmanship to protect your ride.

In most cases, no. The guards are designed to be installed with the bike on its kickstand or a lift with minimal disassembly. It’s one of the easiest ways to add a layer of insurance to your engine before your next big trip. 👊🏻
