Build Breakdown: The History of Pumpkin Spice

Halloween 2017 brought more than costumes and candy—it marked the debut of “Pumpkin Spice", a one-of-a-kind Vicla-style Harley-Davidson® Softail. What started as a parts-runner turned into a show-stopping masterpiece.

Halloween 2017 will forever be one to remember. Klock Werks debuted the “Pumpkin Spice” Vicla during the world-famous SEMA Show—the Specialty Equipment Market Association event held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The custom softail build was featured inside the PPG Refinish booth, surrounded by some of the biggest names in the automotive world.

This kustom, Vicla-styled Harley-Davidson® Softail started with a $2,500 parts-runner and turned into a show-stopping, gold-flaked masterpiece that still turns heads wherever it rides.

The Birth of Pumpkin Spice

The build was born from a simple Instagram post. Brian Klock shared a photo of his old parts-runner bike fitted with Metzeler Orange Wall tires from Daytona Bike Week’s 75th Anniversary. The caption read, “When your tires have to match your forklift.”

Jeremy Seanor of Lucky Strike Custom Paint jumped into the comments and said, “Let me paint that to match.” A phone call later, the two worked out a barter deal on some parts. Jeremy got full creative reign, and the rest was history.

Layers of Gold, Paint, and Purpose

Jeremy started with a gold-flaked base on Klock Werks Benchmark +4'' rear fender and a 16''-19'' front fender. From there, he built up layer after layer of color, candy, and graphics.

For months, photos and ideas bounced between Jeremy and Brian - until one day, Brian’s wife Vanessa saw the progress and said, “I want that to be my motorcycle.” And just like that, Pumpkin Spice had a new purpose.

The SEMA Call

About three months before SEMA, Jeremy called and asked if Klock Werks wanted to debut the Vicla for PPG paint Refinish on Halloween Day.

Brian’s response? “Ouch…now you really cost me some money.”

At the time, the bike was a beater. The paint on the cylinders was flaking, the chrome was rough, and it needed some serious work.

Klock Werks crew members Jennifer Bainbridge and Randy Rothlisberger tore it down, replacing worn parts, sending components for chrome, and shipping the heads and cylinders off to Diamond Cut for some sparkle.

They upgraded the rear suspension with a Legend Air kit, added Cobra exhaust and air cleaner, Covington Cycle floorboards, and Drag Specialties rear fender struts—plus a ton of small details that made a big difference.

A Tiki and a Twist

As the finishing touches came together, the team sent a metal tank dash to Jeremy, who came back with a wild idea: a Tiki holding a spray gun, standing on two pumpkins—one carved with the PPG logo and the other with the Klock Werks spade.

Texas leather craftsman, Tony Sportelli, brought it home with a carved a custom tool roll to match. The build was topped off with a brown Saddlemen seat, chrome rotors, orange spot lamps, and rare Harley-Davidson® accessory trim parts.

The Showstopper

When the covers came off at SEMA, the Pumpkin Spice Vicla instantly grabbed the spotlight. The candy orange paint, gold leaf, pinstripping, and orange wall tires hit under the lights like fire. The stance was thick, low, and impossible to ignore.

Since then, the bike has been featured in countless shows, captured by photographer, John Jackson, of Not Stock Photography, and most importantlyridden.

Pumpkin Spice isn’t just a pretty paint job. It’s a story about creativity, connections, and a team that refuses to build anything ordinary.
