Build Breakdown: A Custom Low Rider S with Roots & Heart

Discover the story behind Hunter’s custom Low Rider S, a bike rooted in passion and real-life milestones. From stock to a club-style powerhouse, it helped develop the FXRP Fairing. This build blends comfort, function, and heartfelt memories.

A CUSTOM 2020 HARLEY-DAVIDSON®LOW RIDER® S

Every once in a while, a build comes through the shop that becomes part of the Klock Werks story, and this one’s got deep roots. This 2020 Harley-Davidson® Low Rider S belongs to our own Krew member, Hunter, and it’s been around since the early days of our FXRP Fairing development. It’s not just another pretty face, it helped shape one of our most iconic products, all while symbolizing a new chapter in Hunter’s life.

Hunter bought the bike new from a dealership in Omaha just a week before the 2020 Sturgis Rally. With no time for mods, or comfort, he threw a leg over a stock setup and rode it raw to the Black Hills. That year’s trip was all about grit. No fairing, no upgrades, and no mercy from the wind or highway. But that’s how real riders figure out what a bike needs. This was just a few months before he officially joined Klock Werks, moved to from big city Omaha to small town Mitchell, and met his wife. He was setting roots for a new life and community that would fuel both his passion and his ride.

In the summer of 2021, his first year joining the Klock Krew, Hunter rode the bike all the way to Utah and back still without a fairing or Flare®. Over 3,000 miles with nothing but the open wind and an aching back. That trip sealed it: the Low Rider S was due for an upgrade.

Soon after, Brian Klock had decided he wanted to bring back the timeless FXRP Fairing. Hunter’s bike became a platform for R&D and the very first mock-ups of the Klock Werks FXRP Fairing. That fairing didn’t just get bolted on but instead was, in part, born on this bike.

This build didn’t just stop at the fairing. With upgraded suspension to a full audio system and a full arsenal of performance parts, Hunter’s Low Rider S is a true club-style workhorse. Whether it’s heading to the Bagger Racing League races with the Krew or hauling down the highway to Daytona or Born Free, this bike does it all.

And yeah, if you ever saw a guy in Omaha with a spaniel strapped to his back wearing Doggles, that was Hunter. His pup Cooper spent plenty of miles cruising in a baby carrier, eyes wide behind those tiny goggles, perched like a co-pilot on every ride through town. Cooper took his final ride on this very bike in the spring of 2023. Ride in peace, buddy. That’s the kind of love and miles this bike’s been through.

It’s not just a bike, it’s a story still being written. And it's helped dial in parts that now improve bikes all over the world.
